Meet the Founder

Hi friend – I’m Leah, the founder of Jungle Bird and I know exactly how frustrating it can be to navigate the beauty and wellness space. For years I battled constant breakouts and wondered if my skincare was making things worse. When I started looking into it, I was shocked to learn that there’s almost no oversight on what goes into beauty products. As one health article points out, there’s no government watchdog policing “clean” labels (healthline.com), so manufacturers can still slip in unwanted ingredients. In fact, many common ingredients in cosmetics are potential hormone disruptors – chemicals that can mimic or change your hormones – and those can wreak havoc on sensitive skin and hormonal balance.

It really hit home when I was diagnosed with estrogen dominance (and the allergies that came with it). Doctors say high estrogen can send histamine levels soaring (drbrighten.com), explaining those stubborn rashes and reactions I’d had. I decided right then to detox everything – every cream, serum and lipstick – swapping them for truly low-tox, eco-conscious options.

It turned out that other clean-beauty fans had the same issue: even boxes touted as “green” often still include irritating ingredients. On the bright side, I have a confession: I love trying new beauty finds and sharing the best ones. There’s nothing quite like unboxing a surprise serum or moisturizer and watching it earn a permanent spot in your routine. Whether I’m basking in Southern California sunshine or back home in the Midwest, I’m always swapping tips and samples with my friends.
